CMS issues supplemental fiscal year 2010 proposed rule for long-term acute care hospitals

Email This Post Print This Post

Q: Where can I find more information about Medicare payments proposed for long-term acute care (LTAC) hospitals in fiscal year 2010?

A: On June 3, CMS released a supplemental proposed rule for LTACs that lowers the proposed payment increase for fiscal year 2010 from 2.8% (outlined in the original proposed rule released May 22) to 2.2%. CMS said the lower increase better reflects errors in the reweighting of LTC-MS-DRGs identified in the fiscal year 2009 LTAC final rule. Comments on both 2010 proposed rules are due June 30.
