CMS releases new and updated RAC FAQs

CMS released six new and updated FAQs related to RACs on February 17, 20 and 27.

Simply click on the questions to view CMS’ answer:

Will there be a Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) blackout if a subcontractor to the MAC is the incumbent Part A FI or Part B carrier?
If the incumbent Part B carrier is awarded the MAC contract, is there a Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) “Blackout” on Part B RAC activity, Part A RAC activity, both, or neither?
What is the name and contact information for each RAC?
Will the RACs receive a full contingency fee for claims in which they utilize the extrapolation procedure outlined in the SOW?
Will CMS use calendar days or business days when determining the number of days a provider has to submit medical records?
If a provider has performed a self-audit prior to RAC review and want to extrapolate these findings, will all these claims included in a self-audit be excluded from RAC review?
