Introducing Fellowship Forum
Editor’s note: Several fellowship coordinators and program directors have asked me about where they can get information specific to running a fellowship program. To meet the needs of the fellowship administrators in our audience, we’re introducing Fellowship Forum, a monthly blog post written by Sally T. Miller, fellowship coordinator.
Welcome to Fellowship Forum! This is a new monthly blog for fellowship administrators and coordinators who work with sub-specialties, be they within pediatrics, internal medicine, neurology, or other departments. We fellowship folks often feel overlooked, as institutional GME issues are mostly concerned with residency programs.
In this feature, we’ll address such issues as how to develop collegiality among subs, how to maintain order when offices are geographically scattered, and how to organize compliance with varied ACGME requirements.
So watch this column, as we try to take you through the fellowship academic year with timely topics of interest!

Hi Sally,
I am the coordiantor for 2 sub-specialties–vascular surgery and surgical critical care. I think that a Fellowship Forum is a wonderful idea. Thanks!
Sherry
I’m looking forward to discussion, although my dream is one day to be a fellowship director.
I am the coordinator for 2 subspecialty fellowships; pulmonary/critical care and also sleep medicine. I am looking for a detailed timeline that I can follow throughout the year. It seems I always forget to do something. I have only been doing this for just over 1 year.
I have been a Pulmonary Medicne Coordinator for two years now and I am still learning what I need to do to be successful. I would like to know how others find out when their graduates take the board and what their scores are.
