  1. Yes I have taken the CHAA examination. I would be more than happy to talk to you about the CHAA examination. You either email me at enxingla@bellsouth.net or call me at 985-781-8225.

  2. We are a small Critical Access Hospital in Portland, Indiana. I have a staff of 12 employees that report to me. Out of those 12 I currently have 5 who are CHAA certified. I have had 3 past employees in the last 2 years with the certification who have pursued other positions. When one of my employees passes the CHAA exam they receive a $1.00 per hour raise which is quite an incentive to get them to take it. They take a lot of pride in this certification and also have it listed on their badge.
If you would like to discuss anything further you can contact me by email.

  3. About 5 years ago we implemented a program for our Pateint Access staff where the organization pays the fee for taking the test and our staff receive a .50 hour raise. The certifcation is a requirement within 2 years of hire. After they have completed the CHAA exam, they can sit for other approved certifications and receive a .50 increase. We limit certifications to 2 per year and staff must re-certify (if required) at their own expense. We did this program to help with staff retention, and saw our turnover at implementation of 24% reduce to around 2%. You can contact me for any further information you would like. 7. I am a Registration Coordinator and would like to become a CHAM. Is there a book I should study first or is the study guide that comes with the test sufficient? I have 19 years experience in hospital billing (14) and Registration management (5). We are a small Critical Access hospital in Washington state.

  8. I have staff members who have taken the CHAA and passed. The certification exam is based on the study guide. All are available from NAHAM — http://www.naham.org.
