CDC: MRSA down but C. Difficile up

The CDC says that some healthcare-assisted infections are on the decline, but that clostridium difficile infections are increasing, reports HealthLeaders Media, October 20. [1]

Data submitted to CDC’s healthcare infection monitoring system shows that four types of common healthcare-associated infections, including MRSA, are in decline and on target for reaching the National Healthcare Safety Network 2013 goals. “Clostridium difficile infections resisted prevention efforts, with a slight increase of 1.1% compared with 2008 and a projected increase of 6.8% for 2010, according to HealthLeaders.
