Weekly poll: What’s riskier, a hospital stay or air travel?

Going into a hospital for care is riskier than air travel, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

“If you were admitted to hospital tomorrow in any country… your chances of being subjected to an error in your care would be something like 1 in 10. Your chances of dying due to an error in health care would be 1 in 300,” said Liam Donaldson, WHO envoy for patient safety, according to a Reuters report, July 21.

I’m forced to agree. Of course, it is even more risky to refuse admittance to a hospital.
