Ask the expert: OSHA training not during office hours
Q: May we conduct our annual bloodborne pathogens training before or after office hours so as not to disrupt patient scheduling?
A: Yes. If you are paying employees for the extra time, you are in compliance with the standard.
OSHA requires that any training, vaccinations, and postexposure management required under the Bloodborne Pathogens Standard be at no cost to employees. OSHA considers non-compensated time for training as a cost to workers.
