Swine flu may be the goose the lays the golden respirator for 3M.
The company which is a major manufacturer in providing N95 disposable respirators for protection from novel influenza H1N1 will invest $20 million to increase production—upping the capacity worldwide by 10 percent—reports Bloomberg, July 23 .
The 3M division that produces the respirators experienced a “tremendous sequential surge,” says the article.
“We are going to have some sustainable growth that comes from H1N1,” 3M Chief Executive Officer George Buckley told Bloomberg.
Say what you will about the pitfalls of predicting pandemic influenza, but it looks like some companies have their ducks—better make that N95s—in a row.
