OSHA posters are free, if you know where to find them
Maybe you have received insistent calls or clutter-causing junk mail about needing to buy an all-in-one OSHA poster this year.
That’s one way to go to meet the poster display requirement, but OSHA wants employers to know that you don’t need a new poster every year, and you certainly don’t have to pay for it.
Employers are required to have the poster on display in an area accessible to employees, and the “Job Safety and Health: It’s the Law” workplace poster and other posters required by the Department of Labor are free and available for downloading. Order or download the federal OSHA poster from the agency’s poster web page. Title 29 Code of Federal Regulations, 1903.2(a)(3) states that reproductions or facsimiles of the poster shall be at least 8 1/2 by 14 inches with 10 point type. A Spanish version is also available.
Employers doing business under state-administered OSHAs may have a different poster to display, and OSHA has links to those state posters too.
Finally, the Department of Labor has provided links for workplace poster requirements for small businesses. If you’re not sure what posters you need, use the Employment Laws Assistance for Workers and Small Business (elaws) Poster Advisor. The program asks you a series of questions and your answers create a list of all the federal posters you need for your business.
