New Medicaid content added to MedicareFind

MedicareFind subscribers will see a new content archive in MedicareFind starting today – added selections from the Social Security Act, primarily sections in the 1900 range, which discuss various Medicaid requirements and structures.

We’ve seen increasing attention to Medicaid over the past few months, with an expansion of the RAC program on the horizon, application of the NCCI edits to Medicaid claims, and introduction of a new HAC-like concept to Medicaid. As these changes develop, expect us to continue to look for ways to meet user needs in this area.

Check out some of the new selections here. And, as always, we welcome your feedback.

NCCI update complete

Following up on my note from yesterday, our update of the MedicareFind NCCI edit lookup tool is now complete. The lookup now contains edits through version 17.0 on the physician side and 16.3 on the hospital outpatient side.

Thank you!

A note on the NCCI edits

Users of our NCCI edit lookup tool should note that we are in the process of updating the database to include the new versions issued recently by CMS and effective for the first quarter of 2011. I will post again to this blog when we have completed the update process. Until then, be aware that the tool contains the edits effective up until 12/31/2010 — version 16.3 on the physician side and version 16.2 on the hospital outpatient side.

Thank you, and I hope all have a safe and happy start to the new year!

Upcoming physician supervision program

Regular visitors to the MedicareMentor Blog will be familiar with the analysis we’ve provided over the years regarding the changes to the physician supervision requirements under the ‘incident to’ benefit. If you find this topic interesting, I encourage you to check out the upcoming (January 6) program Physician Supervision for Hospital Outpatient Services: Comply with Existing Requirements and 2011 Changes.

Our blog contributor Kimberly Hoy is joined by Kathy Dorale (Avera Health) in discussing and explaining the rules. This should be a great program – Kathy has been closely involved in presenting the rural viewpoint to Washington policymakers and she and Kimberly will go over several case studies to show how the rules connect with reality.

See the agenda and read more about the program here.

MedicareFind demonstration October 14

I’d like to invite you to join us October 14, from 1 – 2 pm (Eastern), for a free webcast demonstration of MedicareFind. Our agenda and links to sign up are located here. It should be a good session for those wondering if MedicareFind would be a good fit for their organization. I’ll be taking audience questions after a short presentation and demonstration, so start thinking ahead of time!

NCCI update complete

Those interested in NCCI edits can now access the updated hospital and physician edits through our NCCI Edit Lookup Tool. Yesterday we completed our testing and loading process for the hospital edits, as we had previously done for the physician set. The tool is current through version 16.3 on the physician side and 16.2 on the hospital side.

Thank you!

NCCI edits status

Following up on my previous post, we’ve updated the physician NCCI edits so that they are now current with the new edit files from CMS (through version 16.3). However, we have not yet loaded new edits to the hospital side yet; there was an error in the published files CMS released that it has since corrected, so we will be testing and loading these edits soon.

I’ll post again when we’ve completed the updating process on the hospital side. Thank you!

NCCI quarterly update coming soon

Users of our NCCI Edits Lookup Tool will soon be able to access the updated quarterly edits effective October 1. CMS has published these so the MedicareFind team is now testing and loading the edits into our system – I’ll post again when this process is complete.

Until then, the NCCI edits are current through version 16.2 on the physician side and 16.1 on the hospital outpatient side (remember that the hospital edits run one quarter behind the physician edits).

Those of you unfamiliar with our NCCI tool may want to check out this short demonstration.

NCCI update complete

As I mentioned in my previous post, we’ve been working to test and load the new NCCI edits into our NCCI Edit Lookup Tool. This process is now complete, so the tool is currently up-to-date — searchable through v. 16.2 on the physician side and v. 16.1 on the hospital side. (Remember, the hospital edits run one quarter behind the physician edits.)

Access the NCCI Edit Lookup Tool.

Watch a demonstration of how to use the NCCI tool.

For users of our NCCI Edit Lookup Tool…

CMS has published the latest updates to the NCCI edits (v. 16.2 on the physician side and 16.1 on the facility side). Please note that we’ll be verifying and testing these edits prior to loading them into our NCCI Edit Lookup Tool. When that’s all set I will post an announcement here.

In the meantime, our lookup tool is current through v. 16.1 on the physician side and 16.0 on the hospital outpatient side.

Thank you!
