MedicareFind tip: How to use the snippet

An important tool that I hope MedicareFind users are aware of is the snippet. The snippet is that small bit of text that appears just below the title of the record in the MedicareFind results — it’s an excerpt of that document with your keywords in bold:

Snippet3

The snippet can be helpful in at least two ways:

  1. When scanning the results page, use the snippet to help determine whether a particular document is relevant. Instead of opening up each document and trying to figure out whether it applies, open only those documents that have a useful-looking snippet.
  2. Then, when you open documents, copy and paste snippet excerpts into your application’s FIND bar to locate specific areas of interest. Some of you may already be familiar with this technique — I’ve posted about it before. Using the snippet in this way is a simple method of accessing interesting small sections in a large document’s full context.
