Certified Professional in Resident Assessment
HCPro’s Certified Professional in Resident Assessment (CPRA) program recognizes professional and academic achievement by individuals involved in the long-term care resident assessment process. Applicants who pass the certifying exam receive the credentials CPRA.
Mission Statement
The mission of the CPRA program is to identify, recognize, and support a high level of quality, compliance, experience, and training in the resident assessment process. The program accomplishes this by promoting person-centered care, culture change, and effective communication among members of the interdisciplinary team. The CPRA advisory board, consisting of experienced, in-the-field, licensed professionals in resident assessment, has established criteria for qualified candidates to lead resident-centered care processes that yield highest-quality outcomes as well as meet and exceed resident assessment standards and regulations.
Objectives of Certification

- Support the value and usefulness of resident assessment by promoting standards of competency for licensed interdisciplinary professionals working in long-term care
- Close the gap between clinical theory and practice with strategies to implement and maintain guidelines for clinical and physical assessment
- Promote professional development in resident assessment for the licensed professionals that comprise the interdisciplinary team and participate in the assessment process, including resident assessment coordinators, case-mix managers, therapists, activity professionals, registered dietitians, social workers, unit nurses, directors of nursing, medical records professionals, physicians, advanced practitioners, and administrators
