I interpret the RAI User’s Manual as requiring that the interviewer ask first about the symptom presence before asking about symptom frequency. For example, can you ask question C1 first?
A: According to the RAI User’s Manual, the instructions for interviewing the resident under Steps for Assessment require sequential order: “Each question must be asked in sequence to assess presence (column 1) and frequency (column 2) before proceeding to the next question.” (See the bullet under instruction 10.)
