Congress approves therapy caps exception

With approval of the Payroll Tax Cut Conference Agreement, Congress has moved to extend the therapy cap exception process through December 31, 2012. President Obama is fully exepcted to sign the agreement into law.

Outpatient therapy service providers may continue to submit claims with the KX modifier, when an exception is appropriate, for services furnished on or after January 1, 2012 through December 31, 2012. For physical therapy and speech language pathology services combined, the limit on incurred expenses is $1,880. For occupational therapy services, the limit is $1,880.

What was the outpatient therapy cap decision for outpatient hospital? Are hospitals still excluded?
