Five reasons to attend the Hospital Safety Center Symposium

Hello, it’s Scott Wallask logging in. There’s still time to make plans to attend the 3rd Annual Hospital Safety Center Symposium May 14-15 in Las Vegas, and to nudge those of you on the fence, here are five great reasons to join us:

  1. Presenters Dean Samet of Smith Seckman Reid and Joe Cappiello of Cappiello & Associates will share the stage for the first time since they worked together at The Joint Commission (Dean left in 2004, Joe in 2007). Our program offers a rare opportunity to see these two ex-Joint Commission heavy hitters on the same day.
  2. During our day-and-a-half agenda, 10 sessions will hit a gamut of important hospital safety topics, including Life Safety Code compliance, the new Joint Commission scoring model, emergency planning with your community, staff education, and environment of care hot buttons.
  3. Speakers are providing takeaway resources, including a crosswalk between The Joint Commission’s 2009 life safety standards and 2008 life safety references in the EC standards and Statement of Conditions, sample safety orientation speaking points, sample questions to ask during safety rounds, and a crosswalk between The Joint Commission’s emergency management standards, HICS, and NIMS.
  4. Attendees will be able to sit in on an exclusive accreditation panel session sponsored by HCPro’s Association for Healthcare Accreditation Professionals. The panel will include executives from The Joint Commission, DNV Healthcare Inc., and the Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program, all discussing the options for accreditation in 2009.
  5. Those of you tight on time these days – like me – can be out in Vegas by Wednesday night local time, attend the symposium Thursday and Friday, and be back home by Friday night. That’s only two or three days out of the hospital, including travel, which is a bargain compared to other national seminars.

I’d love to meet all of you at the symposium, so I hope to see you soon.
