Email This Post Print This Post

Happy 100th Breach Day to the HIPAA compliance world.

The number of entities reporting breaches of unsecured protected health information (PHI) affecting 500 or more individuals has hit the 100 mark and thensome.

As of Friday, July 2, the Office for Civil Rights’ (OCR) website list hit 107. OCR enforces the HIPAA security and privacy rules. The number has more than tripled since the enforcer first began posting the egregious breaches in February. The list has grown about 15 per month, or an entity every other day.
