  1. Regarding the poll question related to age for ED call, I am unable to choose the options provided because I would need to check two of them. At our facility, a physician may request exemption from ED call at age 55, but must have served a minimum of 10 years on the Active staff to qualify.

  2. I asked a JC surveyor just recently if I could request a shorter length of reappointment for medical staff members over a specific age (75) and he said…”If I were that physician I would get a lawyer.” What are we to do?

  3. I’m the same as Dana. They can opt out of ER call after 60 years of age and/or 15 years of call coverage.

  4. We permit physicians age 60 and above with 5 yrs. of service to opt out of ER call.
